Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement that will be provided upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines key terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Bourne, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary. Any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. It is imperative to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel than when collected. Late returns will attract extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to minimize your financial exposure. Review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Charges may apply for late cancellations or no-shows.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Vehicles must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting vehicles or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should be used only for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Additionally, driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Bourne Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
10. Terms Updates
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
